I can't tell you how many times, during a stressful situation, requiring immediate assistance from my Apple iPhone & iPad, where Apple Maps would not function correctly.
In one dream that I had, I was in another state, my car broke down, and I was in the middle of nowhere, snow everywhere, riding a bike that I borrowed from someone, and had to get to a job interview. No matter what I did, I could not open the Apple Maps app. After rebooting several times, I could finally bring up the map, but it wouldn't tell me my location, and it wouldn't allow me to set a destination to navigate to. This lack of functionality renders the app entirely useless!
In another instance, I was dreaming that a company that I was working for--a very, very tall building with many floors--had an employee appreciation party. We were invited to bring our dogs, so of course we did.
A few hours into the party I realized that one of our dogs came up missing. I immediately started panicking! Fortunately, our dogs have Air Tags installed into their collars so I figured it would be an easy fix.
When opening the "Find My" app to run the location of the missing K9 it did the same thing. When I would finally manage to swipe up to open the app and get it to stay, no current location and no location of the dog. The map would come up showing the wrong mapping location, zoomed way out. No matter how far I zoomed in or out it was impossible to find our location for the app to be useful, or even begin locating the dog. So, I checked with one of my coworkers to see if she could pull it up. She was actually still working while the party was occurring but said she would look at it when she got a moment. Several minutes later she notified me that her iPhone couldn't bring up maps either so she couldn't help.
Fortunately, no thanks to Apple, I walked the property and in the very back, I found our dog in some bushes, right across from a river infested with alligators.
These are just two instances where the Apple mapping app has failed me, but trust me, they are far from isolated instances. In literally every dream that I've had where I've pulled out either my iPhone or my iPad, they have ALWAYS failed! This is a major design flaw!
Apple needs to acknowledge the issue and approach it in their upcoming software updates. This is entirely unacceptable.
